This guide is designed for users with non-US bank accounts or those who cannot use the automated bank sync feature. It explains how to manually upload your bank statements in PDF or CSV formats and how Adam processes these uploads to keep your financial data accurate and organized.
Step 1: Upload Your Bank Statement in the Bank Transactions Table
You can upload your bank statements manually using one of two methods:
Option A: Upload via Ask Adam Page
Log in and navigate to the Ask Adam page.
Look for the prompt: "Upload Bank Statement."
It takes you to the bank transactions table, where you select the Add Data button.
Then, proceed to upload your bank statement with your instructions attached.
Option B: Navigate to the Bank Transactions Table
Open the Bank Transactions Table from the side panel.
If the table is not visible:
Go to the Data Table on the sidebar.
Click the ➕ Add Table icon.
Select Bank Transactions Table from the dropdown menu.
Click Create Table to add it to your navbar for easy access.
Note: If all tables are already created, the dropdown will show “No available tables.”
Inside the Bank Transactions Table, click the Add Data button located at the top right.
In the popup modal:
Choose the bank account the statement belongs to from the list (either a connected bank or manually added).
In the prompt box, add instructions like:
"Record ₦50,000 received from sales on May 5." or any other relevant note.Alternatively, click the attach icon inside the prompt area to upload your PDF or CSV file directly.
Submit the upload. Adam will extract, categorize, and display all transactions in the table for review or export.
Categorized transactions can only be edited or deleted on the bank transactions table
Important Upload Tips:
For large files, break them into smaller chunks: a maximum of 20,000 characters (~150 transactions) or 10 pages per upload.
Avoid closing or refreshing the page while Adam is processing the file. Processing may take up to 5 minutes, depending on file size.
Step 2: How Adam Handles Unidentified Bank Accounts
If you upload a bank statement, but:
Don’t select a bank account in Adam, or
The bank account does not yet exist in your Adam setup.
Adam will:
Automatically extract the bank’s name from the statement document.
Create a new bank account in your system using that name.
Process and upload the transactions into this newly created bank account.
This automatic creation ensures you don’t have to manually add new banks before uploading statements, making the process seamless.
Note: AI Credit Usage and Charge Alerts
Uploading and processing bank statements consume AI credits based on:
The length of the uploaded document (number of pages or characters).
The number of transactions extracted and processed.
Be aware:
Large uploads or many transactions will use more credits.
If your upload exceeds the credit limit or file size, Adam will notify you with an alert.
Monitor your credit balance regularly to avoid interruptions or failed uploads.
